Bechem, a town along the Kumasi – Sunyani - Road is the home to Bechem United Football Club. The town belongs to the Ahafo divide of the Brong Ahafo region. The folks are predominantly farmers but have a great passion for football as it remains the number one leisure activity.
Bechem United is the only premier division club in the whole Ahafo.
Founded from the merger of two rival teams, Sailors and Vipers, the club though modest has produced some great stars that featured for Kumasi Asante Kotoko. Prominent among them are Moro Gariba and Nana Koffi.
The club has spent the greater part of its existence playing in the division two leagues until Accra based business mogul Kingsley Owusu Achau took over as the president in 2005. The Real Estate Developer was determined to build Bechem into a continental hob of football. In 2006, the club gained qualification to division one football. He quickly brought on board Atlas Sports Management to see to the day to day administration of the club. But this was after a sound structure had been put in place to ensure a friendly working environment.
The team now has a state of the art club house in Bechem which is ranked as one of the best in the country. Facilities at the base include:
28 Rooms (Chalets)
Two different Pay TV Channels
Tennis Court and Table tennis
Two Buses ( A brand new 30 and an old 18 Seat ford buses)
3 Acres of land acquired for an academy

In July 2007, Bechem United became the first division club to embark on a training tour in Europe. Their impressive outing at the tour gained them a ticket to partake in the II Trofeo Karol Wojtyla. This tournament is played in memory of the late Pope John Paul II. It was the first time an African team participated in the under 19 tournament. Even though it was their first outing, they managed to defeat Catania and Messina and lost only to Sampdoria.
These two big outings saw the transfer of 12 players of the club to Europe which includes clubs like Messina, Catania, Fiorentina and Parma all in Italy, Saturn in Russia and Murcia de Portivo in Spain.
Currently, Bechem United qualified into Ghana premier division league With a group of talented young payers.
The club sees it self as a premiership side playing in the division one league and is therefore relishing qualification to the elite division of Ghana football.
Bechem United would also like to restructure its current playing field into a Mini Stadium by 2012. Work has already begun and it’s expected to be soon.
The club also has plans for an Academy to unearth more talents. One major reason for this idea is that, all academies in the country are in the southern part of the country. Surprisingly, most of the best soccer talents the country has ever produced come from the northern part of the country. We believe it will be the most successful academy, since majority of the players in the northern part of the country will end up in our School.
The club is also in search of a corporate and kit sponsor who will partner our dream of enhancing the value of football business in Ghana. We are also looking for collaborators/partners in other areas to make the dream of many a Ghanaian talent whose football dream could go down the drain untapped.
